Locales in Jiangsu province to open in two years

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts says it will open two new hotels in China's eastern Jiangsu province in 2012: the 670-room Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing, and the 371-key Shangri-La Hotel, Yangzhou. The two locales will join the group's existing six hotels in the Yangtze River Delta and two further projects in Shanghai opening in the next two years.

Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing, will be located in the city's Gulou District and will feature a rooftop restaurant, a health club/spa complex, several meeting rooms and a ballroom. The Shangri-La Hotel, Yangzhou, will be first international luxury hotel in that city, and will feature four restaurants, a fitness center, several meeting rooms and a ballroom.

“Shangri-La has operated hotels in the Yangtze River Delta for over 25 years, and previously managed a hotel in Nanjing,” said Greg Dogan, president and chief executive officer of Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd. “We know the region and the city well and have decided to invest into its future with our own development. We look forward to bringing back Shangri-La hospitality to Nanjing and introducing our distinctive service to Yangzhou.”
