HIRINGS AND PROMOTIONS:
Windsor Hospitality Group has hired Ronald Taylor as regional director of sales, Eastern U.S.
The Jade Resort Residences & Beach Club in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, has hired Agnelo Fernandes as its president.
OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened the 563-room Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo, its third property in China’s Zhejiang province and 28th property in mainland China.
HEI Hotels & Resorts has acquired the 353-room Hanover Marriott in Whippany, N.J., from Host Hotels & Resorts Inc. for $27 million. The hotel will undergo a $20 million renovation.
Renovations are complete at a pair of Four Points by Sheraton hotels: the 111-room property in Bangor Maine, which underwent a $9 million upgrade; and the 146-room hotel in York, Pa., which experience $15 million in improvements.
Concord Hospitality Enterprises has formed a joint venture partnership with the principals of the Aztec Group Inc. to join current owner Mercury Investment in ownership of the 88-unit, all-suite Ocean Sands Resort & Spa in Pompano Beach, Fla. for an undisclosed amount. Concord will also manage the property.
The Sheraton Gateway San Francisco Airport hotel is now operating as the Hilton San Francisco Airport. The 400-room property in Burlingame, Calif., underwent an extensive renovation last year.
AWARDS:
Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises announced the winners of their annual environmental awards. For Royal Caribbean, Liberty of the Seas was selected as both the Environmental Ship of the Year and the Environmentally Innovative Ship of the Year. For Celebrity Cruises, the Celebrity Mercury was selected as the Environmental Ship of the Year, and the Celebrity Infinity was selected as the Environmentally Innovative Ship of the Year.
The 120-room Courtyard by Marriott in Stuart, Fla., has won an Aurora Award from the Southeast Building Conference (SEBC). The property’s construction team included Bayview Construction Corp.; Spencer, Maxwell, Bullock Architects; Lucido & Associates; and HVScompass Interior Design.
