HIRINGS AND PROMOTIONS:
Desires Hotels (New York) has promoted David Moth to director of operations.
WD Partners (Columbus, Ohio), a design and development firm for restaurants and multi-unit stores, has hired Michelle Fenstermaker as executive director of consumer insights and John Bajorek as director of digital services.
Marshall Hotels & Resorts Inc. (Salisbury, Md.) has promoted Ben Seidel to chief operating officer, Michael Getzey to president of its new construction and renovation division and David Harvill to executive vice president of accounting.
Centiva (Florence, Ala.), a designer and manufacturer of flooring products, has promoted Erin Dempsey to Southeast sales manger.
OPENINGS AND RENOVATIONS:
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (White Plains, N.Y.) has signed an agreement with Joy Hotel and Resorts Private Ltd. to manage the Sheraton Chandigarh Hotel in India. The 177-room hotel, slated to open in 2012, will also feature five restaurants, a Nectar Spa and 15,000 square feet of meeting space. There are currently four Sheratons in India, and the company plans to double that number within three years.
The Le Meridien Cambridge hotel in Cambridge, Mass., has completed a $7 million renovation of its guest rooms and public space. The 210-room hotel is owned and operated by HEI Hotels & Resorts.
Hilton Hotels Corp. (Beverly Hills, Calif.) has signed four multi-year agreements in Panama City, Panama: two management agreements for a new Hilton (opening in 2011) and Embassy Suites hotel (2011), one franchise agreement for a Doubletree conversion (2010) and one franchise agreement for a new Hilton Garden Inn (the company did not disclose an opening date for this locale). Each hotel will represent the first in the country for each brand.
The Crowne Plaza Philadelphia-Bucks County has finished $4 million in renovations to its guestrooms and public spaces. The six-story hotel has 214 guest rooms and is owned and managed by Hermani Hotels LLC, under a license agreement with the InterContinental Hotels Group.
BUSINESS BRIEFS:
The Jay Daniel Co. LLC (Dallas) announced it has been awarded the management contract for Harlow's Casino Resort in Greenville, Miss.
Serious Materials (Sunnyvale, Calif.), an energy-saving building materials company, has been named an associate member of the Association of Starwood Franchisees & Owners - North America.
