Wilson Associates updating interiors at 50-story hotel
The Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers will undergo a two-phase, $150 million renovation over the next year. That project, featuring interiors created by Wilson Associates, involves updating and expanding the size of the hotel's 1,780 guest rooms, grand suites and the Sheraton Club Lounge on its 45th floor.
The first phase of the renovation, involving updates to 1080 guest rooms, including 32 grand suites and the Club Lounge, will be completed by May. Work will begin on the remaining guest rooms in December 2011 and be completed the following April 2012. Sheraton officials say the updated rooms will feature “rich color palates, graphic patterns and clean lines … that result in a sophisticated, classic look with a modern touch and elegant feel.”
“On the heels of our successful $6 billion revitalization effort for the Sheraton brand, we continue to improve the quality and consistency of the brand portfolio by renovating iconic landmark properties in key destinations around the world,” said Hoyt Harper, global brand leader for Sheraton Hotels. “As the economy continues to rebound and travelers return to the road en masse, Sheraton will be ready with newly renovated flagship hotels and brand offerings.”
The 50-story, full service hotel in midtown Manhattan is owned by Host Hotels & Resorts Inc. Sheraton has 400-plus units worldwide and is part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
