Starwood Hotels chain pumps $100M-plus into amenity
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said its Sheraton Hotels chain has invested more than $100 million to upgrade 120 of its Club Lounges around the world. The upgrades of the private lounges for premium customers took place in such flagship properties such as Sheraton Waikiki, Sheraton Denver, Sheraton Centre Toronto, Sheraton Hong Kong, Sheraton Buenos Aires and Sheraton Edinburgh, and signify “the final chapter” of the brand’s recent $6 billion revitalization effort, Starwood said.
Hoyt Harper, Sheraton’s global brand leader, said the timing is right for such upgrades. “Travel has returned to pre-crisis levels and travelers are once again focused on upgraded amenities and services as key elements of the guest experience,” Harper said.
Sheraton has plenty of company in updating its private lounges, The New York Times reports, with similar efforts underway at such chains as JW Marriott, Hilton and Fairmont.
