Openings will grow brand’s New York portfolio by 50 percent

Starwood Hotels and Resorts has a mini hotel boom going on in New York. The White Plains, N.Y.-based giant will add six new hotels to its 12-property portfolio in the Big Apple by the end of the year. Located in neighborhoods across Manhattan, as well as in Long Island and Brooklyn, this new wave of openings will build out Starwood's portfolio by 50 percent. The new flags account for 25 percent of the new hotel rooms in New York City—which means one of four new hotel rooms opened in New York this year will carry a Starwood brand.
