Hilton expands its eforea concept.

Looking for another reason to add a spa specialist or build out your spa side? As we reported earlier this week, Hilton made its eforea concept available to owners of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton and Embassy Suites Hotels brands. Unveiled in late 2010, the eforea concept includes cocoon-like Vichy shower rooms, as well as aromatic diffusers and integrated music.
Spas have become one of any property’s most memorable moments. Think of Six Senses, or the ESPA in London. It’s a fingerprint for the property’s aesthetic and identity. But, that doesn’t mean all gloss and polish. 2012 trends point to rethinking what defines a spa experience. Maybe it’s time to modify the idea that spas mean unplugging. As Leslie Lyon, president, Spas2be, points out, there’s an increasing tendency to enjoy technology as a means to sort through the panoply of spa services. Or maybe it’s time to ditch the veneer of attempted perfection and let some rawness through in the design. Hey, nobody’s perfect—and guests’ patience for spaces that try to be can wear thin. As in the rest of the hotel, it’s the element of the local, the unique, or the odd that catches the eye.
What new approaches will you try in your spa design this year? We’d love to hear from you.
