Partners plan quick-service restaurants throughout India
Tata Global Beverages Ltd. has formed a joint venture with Starbucks Coffee Co. to open a number of Starbucks cafés throughout India. The partners’ first quick-service restaurants will open this year in Delhi and Mumbai, with locales in other Indian cities slated to open in subsequent years.
“The joint venture with Starbucks is in line with Tata Global Beverages’ strategy of growing through strategic alliances in addition to organic and inorganic growth,” said R. K. Krishnakumar, vice chairman of Tata Global Beverages, a unit of the Tata Group, which also operates the 93-unit Taj Hotels Resort and Palaces. “It opens up exciting business opportunities and new formats for Tata Global Beverages.”
John Culver, president, Starbucks China and Asia Pacific said, “We look forward to bringing the Starbucks Experience to customers in India by offering high quality arabica coffee, handcrafted beverages, locally relevant food, and legendary service.”
The partners did not disclose specifically how many cafes they plan to open.
