HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS

Choice Hotels International promoted Kelly Poling to vice president, marketing and distribution strategy.

Savills U.S., a real estate services provider, hired Andrew Stein as managing director and leader of its hospitality practice.

Victoria & Albert, a creator of volcanic limestone baths, has hired Javier Korneluk as vice president of sales for the U.S. and Canada.

The Indianapolis Marriott East hired Judy Blattert as vice president of sales and marketing. Blattert was formerly the vice president and director of sales and marketing for the Remington Hotel Corp.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS

Starwood Hotels and Resorts has opened an office in New York's SoHo for the design, marketing and brand management of its W, Le Meridien, St. Regis and The Luxury Collection units. 

The former Hilton Columbia in Maryland has been converted to the Doubletree brand and is undergoing a renovation.

Carlson Hotels and SM Hotels and Conventions have opened the 400-room Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu in the Philippines. Also, The Radisson Blu Martinez Hotel in Beirut will begin renovations in January. 

The Doubletree Club Las Vegas Airport has opened 10 PURE Allergy Friendly Rooms, making it the first hotel in Nevada to offer that amenity.

The 224-key Holiday Inn Hotel Seattle-Renton recently completed a renovation. 

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Seattle-based architecture firm Callison and HAYA Architects of Beijing entered into a joint-venture to form Callison (China). 

AWARDS

The Iron Horse Hotel was named Boutique Hotel of the Year by the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association at HD Boutique in Miami. 

ServiceSource bestowed the 2010 Community Partner Award to Stephen Joyce, president and ceo of Choice Hotels International. Joyce also appeared on the premiere of the CBS reality series, “Undercover Boss.”

The International Interior Design Association and InterfaceFLOR will be accepting submissions for the 8th annual IIDA Student Sustainable Design Competition from Oct. 18 through Nov. 9. For more information, go to http://ssdc.strutta.com/.
