Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has promoted Matthew E. Avril to president of its Hotel Group, moving up from co-president of Starwood Vacation Ownership. Avril, 47, succeeds Matt Ouimet, who left the company for undisclosed reasons. Avril will oversee hotel operations for Starwood's nine hotel brands and approximately 900 properties in more than 100 countries.
