Starwood Opening Another Westin in Japan

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. is teaming with Mori Trust Co. to build a 287-room Westin hotel in Sendai, Japan. Scheduled to open in 2010, the hotel will occupy a 37-story tower that will be part of a mixed-use development. It will feature The Heavenly Spa by Westin, two restaurants and a lounge, five banquet rooms, a wedding chapel, fitness center and more than 5,000 square feet of meeting and function space. Starwood, which currently operates five Westin and seven Sheraton hotels in Japan, expects to introduce new W, Westin, St. Regis and Sheraton hotels in Japan in the next several years.
