HIRINGS AND PROMOTIONS:

Terry Bickhardt has joined HVS Hotel Management as co-president, where he will work with Kirby Payne to oversee the hotel management company's business development and hotel operations. Bickhardt was previously co-president of the Waterford Hotel Group.

Hilton Hotels Corp. has named company veteran Dirk De Cuyper general manager of the 286-room Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund, whose first phase opens in 2010.

Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. has hired Eric Hausler as senior vice president, strategic initiatives, effective Sept. 15. Hausler was previously with Trump Entertainment Resorts.

OPENINGS, RENOVATIONS AND BRAND NEWS:

Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces has reopened its renovated Taj Coral Reef property and renamed it the Vivanta by Taj- Coral Reef, Maldives, making it the company's first resort hotel under that new brand.

Noble Investment Group announced it has completed a $9 million renovation of the 295-room Marriott Kansas City Country Club Plaza Hotel in Kansas City, Mo.

Paradigm Building Group has completed the renovation and conversion of the Clifton Hotel in Clifton, Va., into the Trummer's on Main Restaurant. The restored building dates to 1869.

White Lodging has been awarded the management contract for the new 124-room Hampton Inn & Suites-North in Rochester, Minn.

Two new Country Inn & Suites By Carlson have opened in Tifton, Ga., and Rocky Mount, N.C., respectively.

AWARDS:

Randell Smith, ceo of Smith Travel Research, will receive the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the upcoming 2010 Americas Lodging Investment Summit in San Diego.

Tai Wang , co-founder of WAC Lighting Co. (Garden City, N.Y.), has received the "Asian American Visionary Award" from the International Leadership Foundation.
