Business travelers to the Washington, D.C., area will have another option for extended-stay when Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. brings its Element  brand to the Tysons Corner Center to Fairfax County, Va. A link in the eco-friendly hotel chain, which promotes environmentalism through use of multi-purpose public and modular furniture pieces in the guest rooms, the property is scheduled to open in fall of 2010.

Owned by JBG Urban LLC, Element Hotel Tysons Corner will offer 173 rooms with complete kitchenettes. The hotel's key green features include energy-efficient appliances and lighting, water-saving plumbing and waste recycling. Element hotels also use low-emission paints and recycled carpet. Even the "do not disturb" plastic signs are swapped for magnets. The hotel at Tysons Corner is one of 11 Element hotels scheduled to open over the next two years.
