Turner Nabs $100M Casino Contract

Construction firm will oversee renovation, expansion of Harrah’s Cherokee complex


Turner Construction Co. announced it has been awarded a $100 million contract to manage the renovation and expansion of Harrah's Cherokee Hotel Casino in Cherokee, N.C. Construction is underway, with completion of the multi-phased project scheduled for January 2013.

The renovation and expansion project will add 110,000 sq. ft. gaming floor area to the casino, while renovating the existing 130,000 sq. ft. gaming floor. The work also involves the construction of new bars, restaurants and entertainment stages to the casino and hotel. Other renovation highlights include a 70-ft. interior waterfall and a rotunda area whose lighting and sounds will change with the seasons.

Turner is also working on the $120 million contract to for the 500,000 sq. ft. Cherokee Hotel Tower III at the resort, which is scheduled for completion in December.

“Turner is proud to continue its relationship with Harrah's by managing the expansion and renovation of the Harrah's Cherokee Hotel Casino that will provide world-class amenities to the guest and visitors to this mountain resort,” said Gary Stradowski, vice president and general manager of Turner's Carolinas operations.
