Costa Cruises will host its first dual inaugural when its Luminosa and Pacifica enter service June 5. The fashion-forward, 92,700-ton Luminosa marks the debut of a new class of ships for the line. Sixty-eight percent of its staterooms have verandas, the most of any Costa ship. Iridescent shots of color are a hallmark of the contemporary décor which combines marble, warm woods and mother-of-pearl details. The focal point in the Supernova atrium is a commissioned sculpture by Fernando Botero. Inspired by music, the 114,500-ton Pacifica uses elements such as musical symbols and instruments in its design. More than lipservice, the ship pays homage to music with a shipboard recording studio. Each corridor features its own music, from Chopin to Beethoven, while the lounge has an international vibe.
