HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:
Best Western International has promoted Ron Pohl to senior vice president, brand management and member services.
Horwath HTL, a hospitality-consulting group, has named Christos Michaelides managing director of its new office in Limassol, Cyprus.
Choice Hotels International Inc. has promoted Ronald Parisotto to senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.
ACQUISITIONS:
Chatham Lodging Trust has acquired six Homewood Suites by Hilton hotels from RLJ Development LLC for $73.5 million, or about $90,406 per suite. The six hotels, in six different states, will continue to be managed by Hilton Worldwide.
Chesapeake Lodging Trust has entered into definitive agreements to buy the 188-room Hilton Checkers Los Angeles and the 153-room Courtyard Anaheim at Disneyland Resort located in Anaheim, Calif., for a total of $71 million, or approximately $208,000 per key. Chesapeake said it intends to enter into agreements with third-party managers to operate the hotels under their current franchise flags.
BUSINESS BRIEFS:
Spectrum Design Services, the interior design division of mbi | k2m Architecture Inc., has been qualified by Radisson Hotels International as an approved interior design firm and will be completing interior renovation for three of its hotels – the Radisson Hotel Cleveland-Gateway, the Radisson Cleveland Airport and the Radisson Hotel Rochester in New York.
Commonwealth Hotels has been awarded the management contracts for two properties in Kentucky: the 91-suite Homewood Suites by Hilton–Lexington/Hamburg and the 127-room Hyatt Place-Lexington.
AWARDS:
Centiva has received the first annual Green Team Partners award from its hometown of Florence, Ala., where the company operates a manufacturing plant. The award recognizes companies or individuals practicing resource efficiency and assuming stewardship for the earth, as well as the city of Florence.
