A variety of eco-friendly features have been integrated into the newly reopened Ocean Spa & Fitness at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel in Santa Monica, Calif. Designed and managed by Plus One Health Management, the 7,000-square-foot spa's sustainable design elements include Ecoresin panels made from 40 percent post-industrial recycled resin; Armstrong sustainable ceiling tiles; reclaimed-wood furniture pieces; Mondo recycled rubber floors and Shaw carpet with Cradle to Cradle Certification.
"As we continue to invest in our hotel, we feel a strong sense of responsibility to help protect our planet," said Bill Doak, the hotel's general manager. "This project allows us to be environmentally responsible while still providing a luxury spa experience for our hotel guests, spa members and local residents."
The spa upgrade is part of a $7 million renovation and remodeling taking place at the 20-year-old hotel, which has 342 guest rooms/suites. That work, which is slated for completion in June, also includes an exterior facelift, new lobby and pool furniture, and upgraded guest room bathrooms.
