Kor Hotel Group will expand its collection of Viceroy-branded luxury hotel and residences in 2009 when it opens Viceroy Mayakoba on the Maya Riviera, near Cancun, Mexico.
LosAngeles-based interior designer Kelly Wearstler will lend her style to the new Viceroy property in Mexico, as well as other new Viceroy projects: Anguilla (2009), Miami (2009), Snowmass, Colo. (2010), Zihuatanejo, Mexico (2010) and Danang, Vietnam (2010).Wearstler introduced understated colors and lines in her design of Mayakoba's 164-residence and villa resort to balance with its vibrant surroundings. "In my work, I love creative tension-which I achieve by mixing different styles, eras, pairing unusual colors, patterns and textures," Wearstler says. Viceroy also has plans to take its luxury brand to Andermatt, Switzerland, and Sifah, Oman, both scheduled to open in 2011.
