The W Retreat Koh Samui in Thailand plans to open a 6,200-sq.-ft., indoor/outdoor aWay Spa late this year that will feature seven treatment salons (all offering ocean views) in five pavilions. Treatments will include massages, facial and body treatments, manicures and pedicures. The complex will also house an herbal sauna/steam room.
W officials say the spa's overall ambience “will fuse the sensory delights of glowing hues, playful scents, soothing sounds and energizing illumination with cutting-edge design and the distinctive vibe of Koh Samui, an oasis of natural beauty.” The resort housing the spa is the first W Retreat in Southeast Asia. That beachfront complex, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, includes 75 villas, as well as 17 more villas at an adjoining Residences at W site.
