W Hotels Worldwide marked 10 years in the industry by unveiling a $40 million renovation of its first property, W New York, and detailing plans to open about 50 more hotels in the next three years. At the W New York, New York-based BBG-BBGM updated the hotel's 688 guest rooms, outfitting them with bronze coffee tables, hanging pendant lamps, custom headboards with zebrawood and backlit photos, wooden desks with a pivoting glass plane top and textured amethyst bathroom walls. The Starwood Hotels boutique brand, which currently has 26 properties worldwide, also plans to triple its presence to 78 properties by 2011, with properties in cities such as Dubai, Shanghai, Milan, London, Hollywood, South Beach, Athens and Barcelona.
