WATG announced that vice president Bill Reed and associate vice president and Tom Williams are relocating from the design firm’s Seattle office to lead its expanding operations in Singapore. The company said several designers from Seattle will also be relocating to Singapore, and that its Seattle office will close this summer.
Gemstone Hotels & Resorts has hired John Plunket as executive vice president development and acquisitions. Plunket’s career includes stints with Marriott International, MeriStar Hotels & Resorts and CapStar Hotel Co.
J/Brice Design International, Inc. has opened a Dallas office that’s headed by vice president David Messersmith.
Michael Hoffman, president of Albany, N.Y.-based Turf Hotels, has been appointed board chairman for the 2012 International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show (IHMRS).
At tvsdesign, Lucinda Press Aron, Patricia Richey and Foreman Rogers have been promoted to senior project designers.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said the Crowne Plaza in downtown Cleveland will undergo a $64 million renovation and reopen as the Westin Cleveland Convention Center hotel in summer 2013. The 481-key property is owned by Sage Hospitality.
The 84-key Best Western Plus Spasskaya Hotel opened in Siberia, Tyumen.
Davidson Hotels & Resorts announced that the 311-key Courtyard Kaua’i at Coconut Beach has completed a $13 million of its public spaces, restaurants, meeting rooms, lobby and recreational amenities.
The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson, Ariz., and the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa on Hilton Head Island, S.C., have won court approval to emerge from bankruptcy. The resorts, managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and now owned by Southwest Value Partners, will undergo major renovations.
The 591-key Fairmont San Francisco’s grand ballroom has undergone a $1 million renovation that includes new decor that pays homage to the hotel’s classic architectural details.
Premier Inn and its partner company Whitbread Plc will open a 124-key Premier Inn hotel in Warwick, U.K., on Jan. 23.
White Lodging has taken over management of the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco Airport, its first property in California. The hotel represents White’s 35th management contract for Apple Real Estate Investment Trust.
MANAGEMENT CONTRACTS/ACQUISITIONS
Huntington Hotel Group will manage the 221-key Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton Jacksonville Downtown Southbank. The dual-braded hotel complex is comprised of a newly constructed Hilton Garden Inn locale that adjoins an existing Homewood Suites by Hilton locale.
Interstate Hotels & Resorts has acquired the 300-room Crowne Plaza Columbus North hotel in Ohio through a joint venture with Waramaug Hospitality LLC and a private investment group. The hotel will remain a Crowne Plaza and immediately undergo a $5.25 million renovation.
Hotel investment firm RockBridge announced a preferred equity investment to recapitalize and reposition the 329-room, full-service Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Ala. The hotel will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation and be reflagged as The Hyatt Regency Birmingham.

The 1,500-key Hilton Anaheim in Southern California was awarded Green Seal Bronze certification for environmental stewardship. Green Seal is a Washington D.C.-based non-profit organization that provides science-based environmental certification.
The Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Media City has earned Green Key certification, a globally recognized eco-label for the leisure industry.
Contract furnishings manufacturer JLF/lone meadow has joined The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium as a contributing member.
