HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS/EXECUTIVE CHANGES
Global hospitality company Carlson promoted Javier Rosenberg to chief operating officer of Radisson and executive vice president of managed hotels Americas for Carlson Hotels.
Maryland Live! Casino hired the following team to manage its new $500 million gaming and entertainment destination in Anne Arundel County, Md.: Mario Maesano, vice president of marketing; Ted Mazotas, vice president of information technology; and Lynn Norris, vice president of human resources.
Furniture company Astoria Compass promoted Jenny Vance to vice president. Vance has worked on developments for such brands as Ritz-Carlton, Starwood, Hilton and Wyndham.
Jason Rabidoux, who formerly served as The Hotel Group’s asset manager, has returned to the management company as director of real estate and business development.

The 137-key Grand Heritage Doha Hotel & Spa has opened in Qatar. The new, chateau-inspired, five-star hotel was designed by J/Brice Design International.
The 458-key Hilton McLean Tysons Corner in Virginia is completing a $45 million update that plans for an additional 3,000 sq.-ft. junior ballroom, 27,000 sq. ft. of renovated meeting space and a living room-inspired lobby with a bar and technology lounge.
Norwegian developer Arthur Buchardt and hotel and restaurant company Palace Kamp Group will develop a hotel project in Jatkasaari, Helsinki. The Kamp Tower, which will include a hotel and conference center, is slated to open in November 2014.
The 416-key Ritz-Carlton San Juan completed a multimillion dollar renovation.
The Park Inn by Radisson York is renovating the 74 guest rooms in its Garden Court.
Melia Hotels opened two new all-inclusive properties in Mexico: the 512-key Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmeralda and the 394-key Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Perla.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Crown Center Redevelopment Corp. opened the 730-key Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. The 40-story hotel was built in 1980, and will undergo a $13 million renovation.
The 470-key Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel Copenhagen is undergoing renovations, which will be completed by December 2012.
White Lodging completed a $3.8 million renovation of the 259-key Renaissance Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation in Florida.
BRIO Tuscan Grille opened a restaurant at the Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury, Conn.
CRAVE restaurant concept will open a 9,000-sq.-ft. location in Coral Gables, Fla., on Dec. 9. This will be the Minneapolis-based restaurant chain’s seventh location nationwide.

Nashville’s 97-key Hotel Indigo was sold to private investment group TN Nashville LLC for $14.4 million. The two-building complex includes retail, office space and private apartments
Lowe Enterprises Investors has acquired the 237-key Embassy Suites Chicago North Shore/Deerfield on behalf of a pension fund client for an undisclosed amount. The hotel will undergo a $4 million renovation.

Wilson Associates honored Chip Norton of Norton Enterprises N.A. LLC and Ron McDaniel of Townsend Leather at its recent 15th annual Point of Excellence Awards luncheon. The awards honor vendors and service providers in the design industry who repeatedly go above and beyond what’s expected to better serve their clients.
UCLA Anderson School of Management honored Alan Buckelew, president and ceo of Princess Cruises, with the 2011 IS Associates Executive Leadership Award at a leadership dinner on the UCLA campus. The award is presented annually to senior executives who successfully utilize information technology as a resource within their organization.
ReardonSmith Architects was recently awarded five design awards. At the European Hotel Design Awards: Co-founder Patrick Reardon won the Outstanding Contribution Award for visionary leadership and ingenuity; and the firm won The European Hotel Design of the Year Award for The Savoy, Conversion/Extension of an Existing Hotel Building for Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, and Tomorrow’s Hotel award for its subterranean hotel/spa concept. At Building Design's Architect of the Year Awards: the firm won Hotel Architect of the Year for its work on The Savoy.
