Work Begins on Allure of the Seas

(December 2008) posted on Thu Dec 04, 2008 EST

Construction has started on Royal Caribbean International's Allure of the Seas. Workers at STX Europe's shipyard in Turku, Finland, laid the cruise ship's keel in its dry dock. Slated for a 2010 launch, the second Oasis-class cruise ship will have 16 decks, carry 5,400 guests and 2,700 staterooms. Like its sister, Oasis of the Seas, Allure will feature the "neighborhood" concept of seven themed areas. New categories for Allure include bi-level, loft suites and two bedroom/two bathroom AquaTheater suites. The ship also will have balcony staterooms facing the Central Park and Boardwalk neighborhoods.
