After six years in planning, construction is slated to start later this month on the $150 million Atlantic Village Hotel & Marina complex in Dania Beach, Fla. The centerpiece of the mixed-use complex will be a 12-story luxury hotel with 419 suites, a 3,000-square-foot European spa, restaurants, a night club and 18,000 square feet of ballroom, meeting and pre-function space .
The project's developer, Atlantic Village LLC, says an announcement on the hotel's operator will be made within a few weeks. The 10-acre development, which will also include a 12-story, 130,000-square-foot office tower, was designed by Charles Sieger of the Miami-based Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership. The project also incorporates an existing 80-boat-slip marina.
The Atlantic Village Marina was subject to a complex approval process, due to its location at the southwest tip of Fort Lauderdale International Airport's runway 9R and adjacent 80-boat slip marina. It required 17 different FAA and FDOT permits and aeronautical and environmental studies prior to issuance of the building permits.
