500-room Radisson Blu to open in 2013
Construction is underway on a 500-room Radisson Blu Hotel adjacent to Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. The $137.5 million hotel, designed by project architect ESG, is a joint development by Carlson, a global hospitality and travel company, and Mortenson, a construction services company
Located on the mall's south side, the 13-story upper upscale hotel will be part of a high-end expansion at the shopping complex. Plans for the Radisson Blu—which will become the second member of that flag in the U.S. when it opens in March 2013—were first unveiled last fall.
Carlson and Mortenson are equity partners in the hotel, with Mortenson serving as the developer and general contractor and Carlson Hotels working under a 40-year management contract to manage the locale.
