Tower to house first Armani Hotel
The world's tallest building, which will soon house the first-ever Armani Hotel, has opened in Dubai. The official height of the rocket-shaped tower, now known as Burj Khalifa, was revealed to be 2,716.5 feet by owner Emaar Properties at the 169-story building's official unveiling.
The skyscraper, under construction for five years, was formerly known as the Burj Dubai. It was renamed to honor the president of Abu Dhabi, the emirate that last month provided Dubai with a multi-billion dollar bailout after its overheated real estate market began melting down.
In addition to luxury residences and offices, the tower will house the inaugural Armani Hotel, designed by company founder Giorgio Armani. That locale is slated to open in mid March.
