Hotel company’s plans include first locale in India
Wyndham Worldwide Corp. has announced plans for its first Wyndham Hotels and Resorts property in India, as well as its thirteenth Wyndham-flagged hotel in China.
The company's inaugural Indian locale will be a 394-key locale in the capital city of New Delhi. The Wyndham New Delhi Dwarka Hotel is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in April 2011. The property is owned by Tirupati Buildings & Offices Pvt. Ltd.
“India is currently undergoing some of the most accelerated hotel development activity in the Asia Pacific region, which poses great opportunities for us to grow our portfolio in this market,” said Eric Danziger, Wyndham Hotel Group's president and ceo. “The signing of the first Wyndham property in New Delhi demonstrates our ongoing commitment to provide travelers with high caliber accommodations and service throughout Asia and puts a firm stake in the ground in this lucrative market.”
In China, the hotel company has signed a management agreement to open a 350-key Wyndham property in Chongqing. The 48-story Wyndham Chongqing North Hotel, owned by Chongqing Bei Cheng Real Estate Development Co. Ltd., is slated to open in late 2014.
“China continues to be a key strategic focus for development in 2011,” said Danziger. “We are delighted to be working with one of the major real estate companies in the area, Chongqing Bei Cheng Real Estate Development Co. Ltd., for the first time on this exciting project in one of China's thriving industrial centers.”
