Hotel/gaming complex could open by late 2013
Wynn Resorts Ltd. chairman Steve Wynn said his company plans to build a major new casino in Macau's Cotai area, The Wall Street Journal reports. Wynn, speaking in an interview ahead of the opening of his new hotel and casino, Encore at Wynn Macau, said construction on the Cotai project would start next year and open by the end of 2013. The new complex would feature a single hotel and 450 gambling tables.
Wynn's decision to start work in Cotai would make it the fourth of Macau's six licensed casino operators to stake its claim in the area. “In the past few years, Cotai players have built very ambitious projects, but they had little experience in gaming,” Wynn told the Journal. “We have 42 years...and we will land on Cotai and the competition with all of that experience.”
