ST Media Group Privacy Policy
Updated: August 6, 2008
This privacy policy tells you how we use personal information collected at this site. Please read this privacy policy before using the site or submitting any personal information. By using the site, you are accepting the practices described in this privacy policy. These practices may be changed, but any changes will be posted and changes will only apply to activities and information on a going forward, not retroactive basis. Information Obtained
To provide services and to help meet your needs, we collect information about you from various sources.
- We get information from your requests for our products or services. For example: signing-up for email newsletter.
- We get information about your transactions with us and with others. For example, subscribing to one of our magazines.
- We get information, such as +4 zip code appending, from third parties.
Log Files
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include the internet protocol address, the internet service provider, the browser used to visit our site, the time of visit and which pages were viewed throughout our site.
Cookies, Web Beacons and Tracking Technology
We use cookies to store information, such as personal preferences when you visit our site. This is helpful for using features such as the message boards. Personal information cannot be collected via cookies and other tracking technology. However, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information. Aggregate cookie and tracking information may be shared with third parties.
We also use third party advertising to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).
Distribution of Information
We do not share personally identifiable information with advertisers.
- We may share information about you within ST Media Group as required or permitted by law. This helps us refine our products and services offerings.
- We may share information about you with outside companies that work for us as required or permitted by law. One example is third-party circulation fulfillment.
- We may share aggregate demographic information, such as business type, with third parties.
- We may share information with governmental agencies or other companies assisting us in fraud prevention or investigation. We may do so when: (1) permitted or required by law; or, (2) trying to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud or unauthorized transactions; or, (3) investigating fraud which has already taken place. The information is not provided to these companies for marketing purposes.
Commitment to Data Security
Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only authorized employees, agents and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. All newsletters from this site allow you to opt out of further mailings.
